The Timba emerged in the 90s. It identifies its own expressive form in the Cuban salsa. Some distinguishing traits are a strong Jazz foundation.

 

Rhythm consolidated at the end of the 80s by groups and musicians like; Van Van, Adalberto, Irakere, Revé, Dan Den, NG La Banda, Isaac, Paulo FG, Charanga Habanera, Manolito Simonet, Bamboleo.

 

The Timba is a Cuban rhythm, created from the younger generations and strongly structured with the Rumba Clave. Formed by structures of: Picadillo, Papa Cun Cun, Son, batá drums...

 

Structures in the bell, some hits on the snare and on the bass drum are performed. The rhythm of the bell is explained in the general part of the theme and in the explosive part, called “Bomba”.
